5 romantic ways to spend Autumn in London

The night’s maybe drawing in and the temperature starting to drop but there is something about the changing light, falling golden leaves and conkers on trees that make Autumn a special season in the annual calendar. So, say goodbye to Summer and embrace the romance of Autumn with some of our top picks for dates this season.

Regents Canal

The ever-popular stretch of canal from Islington Basin to Limehouse Basin is the perfect place for an autumnal date. The smell of wood-burner smoke from canal boats, fallen leaves underfoot and golden hues from the setting sun make this a particularly special romantic setting. Whether you choose to navigate the towpath by foot or bike, there are a number of places to stop on route for a mooch, pint or snack. Favourites include, Towpath café in Haggerston for coffee and cake, Broadway Market for fresh produce, vintage clothes and delicious street food, Victoria Park and the traditional East London boozer The Palm Tree for jazz.

Kew Gardens

If you’re looking for nature, trees and crisp leaves under foot then look no further than Kew Gardens. Consisting of 121 hectares (300 acres) of gardens and with some 14,000 trees it’s the best place to get your autumnal skyline fix. They also offer guided tours exploring Kew’s extensive collection of trees from around the world. Romance and a bit of education thrown in!

Tremendous trees tours take place daily until 31 October and are included in the entry fee. Tickets start from £16. BOOK HERE
