Summer 2018 date ideas for London singles

Summer is the perfect season for dating in the city. Not only are the days longer, the drinks are flowing, the sun is high in the sky (hopefully!) but there is lots of potential for summer romance. So why not get dating in London this July?!

To help you find the perfect spot for romance we’ve got some great ideas for date night!

1. Movies on the River

The sun is setting, your favourite movie is playing on a big screen, you’re cruising along the Thames on a boat and you and you’re potential loved one are snuggling up. What could be more romantic?

For five nights a week from mid-June to early September, Time Out’s movie boat will offer a food and drink-fuelled sunset cruise from the Tower of London.

Get more details here.

2. Food and nature

Despite being one of the largest metropolis’s in the world London boasts an array of beautiful green spaces that can help you forget about the stresses of the city. From Hampstead Heath, Victoria Park, Epping Forest to Battersea Park the city has it covered. Just add a rug, a few sandwiches, a bottle of bubbles and your favourite person. We’re sure romance will more than blossom whilst you’re at one with nature!

If you’re really looking to impress then we suggest you get one of these picnic hampers here!

3. Dating and live music

Festival season is fully upon us. Whilst it’s fun camping and rolling round in mud somewhere in Somerset we’re not sure not washing for days and sleep deprivation particularly adds up to the most romantic of experiences. That’s where London festivals step up. From man of the moment Childish Gambino at Lovebox, Soulful House legends Masters at Work at 51st State to The Flaming Lips, Ghostpoet, Mystery Jets and more at brand new festival Kaleidoscope you don’t need to leave the city for your music fix this summer. This is the perfect way to mix dating and music.

4. Open air theatre

Regent's Park Open Air Theatre is an award-winning theatre and a London landmark. A firm fixture of summer in the city, the theatre provides a cultural hub in the beautiful surroundings of a Royal Park. The wonderfully unpredictable nature of outdoor theatre makes each visit here extraordinary and thrilling. This year you can choose from As You Like It, Little Shop of Horrors plus comedy from the likes of Simon Amstel.

5. Get up high (& personal!)

The London skyline is up there with the best in the world and there is no better place to enjoy it than at one of the many rooftop bars the city now has to offer.

North, South, East, West you’re never too far from a romantic cheeky cocktail in the sky so check out this guide to London’s best rooftop bars to take your pick here!

6. Ready, steady & ride!

Nothing beats the feeling of exploring the city by bike on a hot summers day with a date. Whether you want to stay urban or get back to nature the list of cycling routes is endless in the city.

Check out Time Out’s pick of great, scenic and central cycle routes to choose from in London here.
