We met at a Speed dater event at the slug and lettuce in oxford. I can’t remember the hosts name, but the date was 30th Nov 2016. My friends and I had booked the tickets after a few prosecco’s one day, and when I sobered up I very nearly cancelled my place! I thought it would be awkward and full of weird people (sorry!) but I’m so glad I went as although I didn’t click with everyone there, I did have an interesting conversation with each person and it wasn’t weird or awkward or scary. It was a great atmosphere and at the end most people stayed behind to chat. I spotted my now boyfriend as I entered the room. I noticed he was already sat chatting with a pretty blonde lady and I was a bit disappointed! But as it was Speed Dating everyone got the chance to speak to everybody. By the time it got to our turn to date we’d both had quite a few conversations so we’d got bored of small talk and ended up talking about random things. I can’t really remember what we spoke about, but we laughed a lot.

It took us a couple of weeks to get in touch and arrange a date as we were both busy in the run up to Christmas. We eventually met one day between Christmas and new year. We spent the whole day in the zoo and then went for a walk and looked at the lights of the city. As we’d already met we both felt comfortable arranging a first date that was a bit more adventurous than just a coffee or drinks.

It’s now just over three years since our Speed Date, and in a few months time it will be three years since we’ve lived together. We have a cat and a dog who make us a family of four, and it’s all thanks to Speed Dater!
